At the age of 12, only two years after he started practicing magic, Copperfield was accepted to the Society of American Magicians, becoming its youngest member. Borrowing his now famous stage name from a novel by Charles Dickens, Copperfield was soon discovered by television producers and started a career as a television magician. Combining magic with storytelling, he created a number of unique and touching performances. With David Copperfield, the impossible became possible. He flew across the Grand Canyon, walked through the Great Wall of China, teleported himself to Hawaii and made the Statue of Liberty disappear.

In addition to his work as a magician, Copperfield also had a short acting career. He appeared in movies such as Terror Train and Prêt-à-Porter. He also co-wrote two books, David Copperfield’s Tales of the Impossible and David Copperfield's Beyond Imagination.
